They defeated New Zealand once again, this time in their lair, to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series in Sylhet, proving that their run of unassailable advantage was not a one-time event. With a commanding 150-run victory, the Bangla Tigers defeated the Kiwis in their first-ever Test match played at home.

Taijul Islam, who grabbed his 12th five-wicket haul in Test cricket, was the hero of the crushing victory. He was named Player of the contest for his outstanding performance, which included an incredible 6-75 in the second innings. He took 10 wickets overall in the contest.

Chasing a difficult goal of 332, New Zealand began the final day at 113/7, with Daryl Mitchell’s tenacious 58 leading the fight. He and Ish Sodhi’s partnership put Bangladesh to the test as they shared 15 overs at the crease. But Nayeem Hasan’s deep backward square leg rejection of Mitchell signaled a significant turning point for the home team.

Bangladesh held onto the ball despite some aggressive bowling from Tim Southee, which included sixes off Taijul and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Southee’s cameo was cut short by Taijul, who also removed Sodhi to complete the triumph and conclude New Zealand’s innings in the first session of the last day.

“All of the players deserve credit. Taijul, Miraz, Shoriful, and Nayeem were all excellent bowlers. This contest was enjoyable to everybody. Najmul Hossain Shanto, the captain of Bangladesh, said after the game, “We’re not thinking of the result, just following the process.”

In my opinion, we could have scored 50–80 runs more in the first inning. I’m already considering the upcoming test. I’m halfway through. A long way to go still,” he said.

Tim Southee, the captain of New Zealand, gave Bangladesh credit for their impressive effort under difficult circumstances.

“I give Bangladesh credit. They performed well and are an excellent team under these circumstances. As a team of bowlers, we had to maintain pressure. It was a rather strong wicket. took a little detour, as one could anticipate in this region of the globe. We’ll think about it and work to improve for the next match. Everyone aspires to always grow better and up their game, according to Tim Southee.

Bangladesh had earlier in the game established the tone with a competitive first-inning total of 310, driven by an outstanding 86 by Mahmudul Hasan Joy. With a 317 reply, led by a century from Kane Williamson (104), New Zealand answered.

Bangladesh had early difficulties in the second innings shootout, but their captain Najmul Hossain Shanto showed resiliency by making a vital contribution of 105. With the help of half-centuries from Mehidy Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh scored 338 in their second innings, posing a serious threat to New Zealand.

After failing to match Bangladesh’s spin attack, New Zealand was reduced to 102/7 on the last day, but Mitchell made a heroic attempt. Even though he resisted, Taijul and the other bowlers from Bangladesh finished the job, giving the home team a decisive win.

The next test match is scheduled on December 6 at Dhaka’s Shere Bangla National Stadium.
